Plumtree Pushes New Portal By ASPnews.com Staff August 26, 2002
Enterprise portal platform provider Plumtree Software today announced the Plumtree Portal Solution for Employee Services, an online employee relationship management (ERM) center designed to help organizations deliver content, services and systems to employees, retirees and their spouses.
The portal is intended to lower the cost and increase the return on investment of an employee services portal. San Francisco-based Plumtree says the offering combines new integration products for PeopleSoft and SAP human resources systems, a new suite of portal services that automate common HR processes, a deployment methodology based on experience gained by deploying over 50 employee services portals, and integration and deployment support from six new partners in the employee services field.
According to a recent Giga Information Group Inc. report, employee portals will become a ubiquitous and indispensable element of the employee's daily work experience by 2003. "Companies planning to deploy employee portals should strive to create a compelling site that encompasses a broad range of content and services. Achieving this goal will require leveraging portal technology that enables powerful features such as personalization and content aggregation. Integration with core ERP applications, such as HRMS and financials, is critical," the report says.
New integration products bundled with Plumtree Portal Solution for Employee Services include the following:
Enterprise Class Gadget Suite for SAP HR: Seventeen pre-built Gadget Web services designed to empower employees and HR administrators to update and view information about careers, finances and personal information.
Enterprise Class Gadget Suite for PeopleSoft HRMS: Suite of 24 Gadget Web services integrates PeopleSoft HRMS functionality into the Plumtree Corporate Portal, which is designed to enable employee self-service. Portal users can perform tasks such as updating marital status and direct deposit information, and HR administrators can manage processes like training enrollment and time off requests.
Plumtree Gadget Suite for Employee Services: Nineteen Gadget Web services currently under development are designed to provide customers with the following HR and corporate communications services:
Other Plumtree partners working on Gadget Suites for integration in the new employee services portal, according to the company, include Extensity, PlaceWare, Saba, ScreamingMedia and Workbrain.
