June ASPnews Top 50
By Kevin Newcomb
June 25, 2004

Our Providers list is active again this month, with another departure due to an acquisition. Last month, Surebridge, an original member of the ASPnews Top 20 in April 2001, was acquired by NaviSite. And this month, USi announced plans to buy Oracle application outsourcer Appshop, a company that has held a place on the ASPnews list since November 2001.

To fill this position, we've tapped Kintera, a software-as-service provider focused on the nonprofit sector. Its Kintera Sphere platform is an enterprise-grade software system that provides content management, contact management, communication tools, commerce applications, community-building features and reporting functions, all built on a unified database and payment processing engine.

Kintera held a successful IPO in December 2003. This month, we saw two other Top 50 companies with IPO news. WebSideStory filed for an IPO at the end of May, and the long-awaited Salesforce.com IPO finally took place.

In other Top 50 news, there's still no resolution to the Oracle/PeopleSoft saga, Siebel is beginning to embrace the ASP model, USi acquired a spend management consultancy, and CrownPeak debuted a suite of developer tools akin to salesforce.com's sforce.
