We are building a team of freelance affiliate writers around the world, who contribute to ASP News Review on particular topics of interest or geographic regions. They are all writers who follow the application services market or some sector of it and are attuned to the specific issues that affect the ASP industry. Payments are in line with prevailing rates for freelance IT writers.

If you are interested in contributing, please drop us an email to the editor ([email protected]) with a note of:

  • The specific topics or geographies you wish to cover
  • A brief note of how you have acquired your knowledge/expertise in this area
  • URLs of some examples of your published writing
In return, we will send you details of our guidelines for writers and information about possible commissions in your field of interest. Please do not submit unsolicited material. You must always make sure you have a confirmed commission from us, with an agreed payment and deadline, before you start work.

In addition to our news publications, we also commission some of our writers to author reports that we publish and market under the Farleit Limited imprint. Payment and terms for these publications are individually negotiated and include a revenue-sharing element.

Our editorial values
Our style is a hybrid of journalism and analysis which draws on deep-rooted traditions in English-language news media. We do not simply report in our news stories. Our readers are busy people and it is part of the service we provide that we also interpret the events we describe. Similarly, our features aim to provide a combination of information and analysis. Since the ASP industry is our readership, we are partisan. We want it to be successful and we will support it in its efforts - but we will also chastise it for its errors.

Writing opportunities
There are various types of news, feature and report writing that we commission.

  • Headline news stories on our website report trend-setting events, typically landmark announcements or initiatives by vendors or providers, or exclusive news of relevance to the industry as a whole. Average length is around 350 words
  • News in brief stories on the website are more of a cross-section, including significant vendor announcements, news about high-profile providers and their customers, market insights, and slightly offbeat stories that provide an unusual angle. Average length is 150 words
  • News in depth articles provide more detail on a specific topic. They are normally more analytical in nature than our other news items, and tend to span several news announcements rather than focussing on one company or news event alone. Lengths vary, around 800-1000 words
  • Newsletter features in ASP News Review monthly are a concentrated look in detail behind the scenes at some aspect of ASP business models, markets or technologies. They are fixed length, either one or two pages (600 or 1200 words), and aim to provide insights into best practice, marketplaces or technology developments that our readers will not have had an opportunity to get from any other source.
  • Special reports are single-topic publications, varying in length from 3,000 to 25,000 words, which analyse a specific business or technology issue from an ASP industry angle. Writers are typically analysts or consultants with extensive personal expertise and knowledge of the topic.
